Autism is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition. We do not claim that acupuncture or herbal medicine cures it. We meet families who want traditional support alongside their child’s existing care.
About autism
Autism affects how a person communicates, relates to others and experiences the world. Signs usually appear in early childhood, and a diagnosis comes from a paediatrician or developmental specialist.
- Speech and communication
- Social interaction
- Behaviour and emotions
- Sensory sensitivity and physical contact
- Thinking and play skills
What families ask us about
Parents come to us hoping for support in the areas above. We offer neuro acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine prepared for the individual. Every child is different, and so are the goals and the pace of progress. We make no promise of a particular result.
Intensive treatment away from home
Families travelling from other cities or countries can arrange an intensive course of neuro acupuncture with accommodation nearby. See our accommodation page for details.
How we work
At The Tole, treatment combines neuro acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. The Master’s team reviews your history and any medical reports, then recommends acupuncture, herbal preparations, or both. Herbs are prepared for the individual, using natural herbs and the family’s ancestral formulas.
You can walk in during opening hours without an appointment. If you live far away, email your medical reports and we will advise you on herbs and, where suitable, an intensive course of acupuncture. Herbs can be couriered to any country, usually in 3 to 5 working days. See herbs by post.
See a doctor first if
- A child who has not yet been assessed. A paediatrician or developmental specialist can diagnose and advise
- Regression, such as losing words or skills the child already had
- Seizures, or any sudden change in health
Traditional Chinese medicine is offered as a complement to, not a replacement for, medical care. We do not promise a cure or a particular result, and responses vary from person to person. Please keep your doctor informed about any herbs or treatments you use.
