疼痛Pain and injury

Pain

Pain is one of the most common reasons people look for care. It can follow an injury, come with an illness, or carry on for months with no clear cause.

About pain

Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience linked to tissue damage that has happened or could happen. Acute pain is short-term and usually follows an injury or illness. Pain that continues for weeks or months is called chronic pain.

Pain that is left unmanaged can affect sleep, mood, work and daily activity, so it is worth having it assessed early.

What helps us at a first visit

  • Where the pain is, and whether it spreads
  • When it started, and what makes it better or worse
  • Scans, blood tests and doctors’ reports you already have
  • Other conditions you have and the medicines you take

How we work

At The Tole, treatment combines neuro acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. The Master’s team reviews your history and any medical reports, then recommends acupuncture, herbal preparations, or both. Herbs are prepared for the individual, using natural herbs and the family’s ancestral formulas.

You can walk in during opening hours without an appointment. If you live far away, email your medical reports and we will advise you on herbs and, where suitable, an intensive course of acupuncture. Herbs can be couriered to any country, usually in 3 to 5 working days. See herbs by post.

See a doctor first if

  • Sudden, severe pain, or pain after a serious fall or accident
  • Chest pain, or pain with shortness of breath
  • Pain with fever, unexplained weight loss, numbness or weakness
  • Loss of control of your bladder or bowels

Traditional Chinese medicine is offered as a complement to, not a replacement for, medical care. We do not promise a cure or a particular result, and responses vary from person to person. Please keep your doctor informed about any herbs or treatments you use.
