A cancer diagnosis affects the whole person and their family. Treatment is led by your oncology team with surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted or hormone therapy. The Tole does not treat cancer and does not offer an alternative to those treatments. We offer supportive care for the symptoms and tiredness that can come with the illness and its treatment.
What we do not do
We do not claim that acupuncture or Chinese herbs cure or shrink cancer, and we ask you not to delay or stop treatment recommended by your oncologist. Delaying proven treatment can reduce your chances.
How supportive care may help
Some people find acupuncture helps with the side effects of treatment. Guidelines recognise acupuncture as an option for some of them, with the best evidence for:
- Nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy
- Pain, including aromatase-inhibitor joint pain
- Dry mouth after radiotherapy
- Hot flushes, poor sleep and tiredness
- Numbness and tingling from chemotherapy (evidence is limited)
Safety with cancer treatment
Herbs can interact with chemotherapy, targeted drugs, hormone therapy and blood thinners, and can affect the liver or blood counts. We need your full treatment details and, where possible, your oncologist’s agreement before suggesting any herb. Needle treatment is adapted to your blood counts, and we avoid treating directly over tumours or swollen limbs at risk of lymphoedema.
Acupuncture and herbal treatment at The Tole
At The Tole, treatment combines neuro acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, in the way developed by our founder, Dato’ Leong Hong Tole. Master Tole is the founder of TheTole neuro acupuncture and TheTole neuro brain powder, and the treatment is based on his own technique and on the family’s ancestral formulas. His team reviews your history and any medical reports, then recommends acupuncture, herbal preparations, or both. Herbs are prepared for the individual, using natural herbs.
Treatment at The Tole is used together with your medical treatment, to support your recovery. We never ask anyone to stop the care their doctor has advised.
You can walk in during opening hours without an appointment. If you live far away, email your medical reports and we will advise you on herbs and, where suitable, an intensive course of acupuncture. Herbs can be couriered to any country, usually in 3 to 5 working days. See herbs by post.
Please consult before you buy. Before you purchase any TheTole herbs, including TheTole neuro brain powder, we recommend consulting Dato’ Tole or his team first, so that you receive the correct prescription for your condition.

Common questions
Can Chinese medicine cure cancer?
No. We make no such claim. Please follow your oncologist’s treatment plan.

Can my family come with me?
Yes. Carers are welcome, and we know how tiring the journey can be for them too.
See a doctor first if
- Fever above 38 degrees during chemotherapy. Contact your oncology team or go to emergency care at once

Traditional Chinese medicine is offered as a complement to, not a replacement for, medical care. Used together with your doctor’s treatment, it aims to support your recovery. Responses vary from person to person, and no particular result can be promised. Please keep your doctor informed about any herbs or treatments you use.
